Fajada Butte Sunset

Chaco Culture National Historic Park, New Mexico

Fajada Butte basks in the golden light of sunset. Fajada Butte is a prominent landmark of Chaco Culture National Historic Park in New Mexico. Not only a wonderful rock feature, Fajada Butte is a known solar marking site created by the ancient Pueblo Indians. Atop the butte are perfectly placed slabs of rock that cast shadows on spiral petroglyphs. Photo © copyright by Jimmy Gekas.
